Our 3rd design comes from Peru, the land of Incas. A country of splendid cultural diversity, cuisine, adventures and coffee.
Coffee has been grown throughout Peru since the 1700s but it wasn’t cultivated for commercial export until nearly the 20th century, with increased demand from Europe. The country has a remarkable number of certified-organic coffees, as well as Fair Trade, Rainforest Alliance, and UTZ-certified coffees. Starting 2010s, Peru is one of the top producers of Arabica coffee, often ranked 5th in world production and export of Arabica.
Small size of the average farms allowed for microlot development in specialty coffee due to incredibly high-quality lots.
This Arabica variety is Catuai, the name derives from the Guarani language, meaning “very good.” Catuai was created in 1949 from a crossing of yellow Caturra and Mundo Novo, made by the Instituto Agronomico of Sao Paulo State, Brazil. The plant great vigor and small stature allows it to be planted densely and harvested more efficiently. The variety was released in Brazil 1972 after pedigree selection (selection of individual plants through successive generations).
This coffee it is washed processed. Of all the coffee processing methods, this method often produces the highest quality coffee. Some of the world’s finest (and often most expensive) coffees are created using this process. Our design deliveres a mild, smooth body, a clean taste with notes of creamy caramel and nuts, balanced fruity acidity and melon sweetness. This specialty coffee has a 84 quality score.
